Provincial Competition |
We were very excited to go to our first VEX IQ competition. We had worked very hard on our project and robot since the beginning of September. We all met at the PACE qualifying event early in the morning. Once we were all at the school, we had registered and set up everything at our team pit. We had double checked our team’s schedule and were just practicing robot on the practice table. The opening ceremonies had begun and were very welcomed. Right away we got ready for our first robot teamwork challenge.
After a few robot challenges, we had to go get ready for the STEM project in a separate room, we were all nervous but thought that we did great in the project room. We got out of the room more confident and were even more ready for the rest of the robot challenges. We had did very good in all of the robot teamwork challenges. After that, we went to do the robot skills and autonomous challenges. We had done those and did amazing. The award ceremonies were about to begin and we were very confident in everything we had done in all the robot challenges and STEM project. We had won four awards, Excellence, Teamwork, Programming and Robot Skills. We were all so happy about the outcome of the day and we ready for provincials but we wanted to improve many things. |
This was a great experience for the team! We were all very excited. In fact, so excited that we made up a dance! We loved the encouraging community as we walked through the doors. When we first got their, we handed in our project binder and engineering notebook. We then went to our pit area. We looked at when we were scheduled to run the robot and accordingly decided when to present our project script.
Due to the fact that the remote control's connection to the robot was getting disturbed, our robot malfunctioned a few runs. For the most part though, we scored high on the table. In fact, at this competition, we set the world record for the autonomous robot challenge! Our robot room went very! Sadly, the competition came to an end. We won programming, STEM awards, robot skills, and the Excellence awards. At the end of the competition, we all went to jack astors to eat. We celebrated our win! We knew that we still had a lot of work ahead of us and we were so exciting to be invited to the world competition. |
